Presentation:
Ozempic 0.25mg + 0.5mg is an injectable solution for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, presented in a delivery system with 6 needles. The medicine contains semaglutide as an active ingredient and is indicated for adults. As a medicine for diabetes , it should also be used in conjunction with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control.
Package contents: injectable solution, 1 application system and 6 disposable NovoFine Plus needles.
Composition:
Each mL of Ozempic 0.25mg + 0.5mg solution for injection contains:
- 1.34 mg semaglutide.
Excipients: dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol, hydrochloric acid (pH adjustment), sodium hydroxide (pH adjustment) and water for injections.
A pre-filled pen contains 2 mg semaglutide in 1.5 mL.
What is ozempic indicated for?
Ozempic is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes . It can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines. Ozempic is used to improve blood glucose control in patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled by diet and exercise alone.
How does ozempic 0.25mg + 0.5mg work?
Ozempic works by acting on semaglutide , which stimulates the release of insulin and reduces the secretion of glucagon when glucose levels are high. This helps to reduce blood sugar and improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
How should I use ozempic 0.25mg + 0.5mg ?
Ozempic should be administered once a week, preferably on the same day each week. The injection can be administered at any time of the day, with or without food, and should be administered subcutaneously on the front of the thighs, the front of the waist (abdomen) or the upper arm.
- Preparing the pen: Check the label to make sure it is Ozempic 0.25mg + 0.5mg and remove the pen cap.
- Checking the solution: Check that the solution in the delivery system is clear and colorless. If it is cloudy or colored, do not use the pen.
- Needle preparation : Take a new needle and remove the protective cap; screw the needle onto the delivery system and twist until it is secure. Then remove the outer needle cap and save it for later use. Remove the inner needle cap and discard it.
- Checking the flow: Before the first injection with each new pen, check the flow. Turn the dose selector to the flow check symbol. Hold the pen with the needle pointing upwards and press the dose button until the dose counter returns to zero: a drop of solution should appear at the tip of the needle.
- Dose selection: turn the dose selector until the dose counter shows the prescribed amount (0.25 mg, 0.5 mg or 1 mg).
- Dose delivery: Insert the needle into the skin as instructed by your doctor. Press and hold the dose button and watch the dose counter return to zero. Keep the needle in the skin and slowly count to 6 to ensure the full dose is delivered.
- After injection: Remove the needle from the skin and release the injection button. Use the outer needle cap to cover the needle and unscrew it from the pen. Dispose of the used needle safely.
Important precautions:
- Replace the cap on the pen after each use to protect the solution from light;
- Do not leave the pen in places where it can get too hot or too cold;
- Do not wash or soak the pen;
- Always use a new needle for each injection;
- Do not inject Ozempic that has been frozen or exposed to direct sunlight;
- Do not mix Ozempic with other injections;
- If the delivery system is new, check the solution flow before the first injection;
- Do not screw a new needle onto the delivery system until you are ready to inject;
- Do not touch the dose counter when injecting (it may interrupt the injection);
- Once empty, always discard your application system;
- Do not wet or knock the application system against hard surfaces.
What are the risks of taking ozempic?
Risks include possible side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and hypoglycemia. Serious side effects may include pancreatitis, changes in heart rate, and severe allergic reactions.
